This privacy policy applies to the BooksFeed iOS app available on the Apple App Store and our web service at booksnotes.onrender.com.

2.1 Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Password (encrypted)

2.2 Book Notes and Highlights

When you upload Kindle notes, we store:

• Book titles and authors
• Your highlights and notes
• Page numbers and locations
• Dates when highlights were created
• Your interactions with notes (likes, bookmarks)

2.3 Usage Information

We may collect information about how you use our service, including:

• Device information (type, operating system version)
• Log data (access times, features used)

2.4 Data NOT Collected

We explicitly DO NOT collect:

• Location data
• Contact information (beyond your email)
• Photos or camera access
• Microphone or audio recordings
• Payment information (app is free)
• Browsing history outside our service
• Search history outside our service
• Health or fitness data

Note: our iOS app may receive a device advertising identifier (such as the iOS IDFA) only if you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt the first time you use the app. See Section 12 below for details on advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Create and manage your account
• Store and sync your book notes across devices

• Advertising partners: Limited information may be shared with our advertising provider (Google AdMob) to deliver and measure ads inside our iOS app. We do not share your email, name, account data, or your book highlights with advertisers. See Section 12 for details.

Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

Our service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

12. Advertising

Our iOS app displays ads to support the service. We work with Google AdMob to serve these ads.

12.1 What is shared

When an ad is shown, Google may receive limited information needed to serve and measure the ad, which can include:

• Your device's advertising identifier (such as the iOS IDFA), only if you have allowed tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
• Basic device information (device type, operating system version, screen size, country / language).
• Information about your interaction with ads (impressions, clicks).

We do not share your email address, name, account data, or your book highlights with advertisers.

12.2 Your controls (iOS)

• The first time you open the iOS app, you will see Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, ads still appear, but they are not personalized to you, and your IDFA is not shared with Google.
• You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

12.3 European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the iOS app will show an additional in-app consent screen before any ads load, where you can manage your choices for personalized advertising under GDPR / UK GDPR. You can revisit this screen later via the app's settings.

12.4 No sale of personal information

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers. We do not run ads on our website at this time.
